Many companies have a tradition to congratulate clients, partners and employees with great holidays. People are considering over the question: 'What can I present to my employees and business partners?” Every person needs something useful and wants to feel cared. So, the gifts should be of equal value. Promotional products pens are the most appropriate solution in this situation.
June 10 is the Birthday of a ballpoint pen. The date would seem no so important. But imagine without such important invention, we still could be writing with fountain pens. Of course, now many enjoy using computer or mobile phone more often, but many generations grew up without these scientific and technological progress innovations, and still a pen is compulsory at school or university or at work.
In addition, a ballpoint pen is also related to a very instructive story. June 10, 1943 a patent for an invention was issued to Milton Reynolds, a simple salesman from Chicago. This date is considered a ballpoint pen’s birthday. Do you think this salesman invented it? No such luck.
Milton was an experienced guy and traveled to Argentina for his business. There he bought a couple of ballpoint pens. Coming to America, he asked the Patent Office, is there a patent for the invention - it turned out such a patent was once issued, but its validity already expired. So Milton managed to issue a new patent quickly and obtained the rights to a ballpoint pen invention.
Well, how everything happened? Who invented a ballpoint pen – a much needed and important subject for any person? Back in 1938, Laszlo Biro and his brother, Gyorgy from Hungary, made a prototype. Soon Laszlo went to France, where he was granted the first patent for a ballpoint pen. After some time, Biro arrived in Spain, where he allegedly met the former President of Argentina - Agustin Pedro Justo. The latter was very impressed by Mr. Biro’s promotional products pens and invited him to Argentina. There Laszlo found an investor, whose name was Juan Maine. Soon his Gyorgy came to Argentina. Together they launched the first production of ballpoint pens, the first pens arrived in stores in 1942.
The new invention became known as "Birom" (by the way, now in Argentina pens are still called "Birom"). The name has quite prosaic explanation - a collection of two names - Biro and Meyne. The first ballpoint pens were expensive. People were not in a hurry buying them, but these pens attracted pilots, who were simply tired of writing with ink pens that leaked during climbing.
Royal Air gladly acquired the license for ballpoint pens manufacture, and soon the United States Department of State strongly advised businessmen paying attention to the novelty and starting promotional products pens production in America. And as soon as Eversharp Company bought f a license to release handles for half a million dollars ... That's right, Mr. Milton Reynolds was there and managed to register all the rights to an invention on himself ...
The history of a ballpoint pen represents a real detective, where justice prevails not always, unfortunately. So, if you have some kind of invention - immediately issue a patent for it!
Promotional products pens with the company logo will always be in sight. Most importantly, they should be necessary and useful, as people will often see them and think about the one who gave them.

Most pens, pencil, cups, golf balls and ect... are bought direct from the manufacturer. Magnets you make on sheets and have them cut to size or shape with a die cutter.
Try Magnum Magnetics or Master Magnetics
Call the companies you want to get blanks from and find out what the minimum purchase is, if the quantity is to high ask the sales person if they sell blanks to someone who would sell you that product also. There are a lot of promotional companies out there that are small so I know that someone is supplying them. Pens and pencils are very cut throat in prices but calculators, knives and personal calendars have some room for profit. Try to buy direct or find a distributor they recommend, sometimes the distributor sells cheaper than direct due to the fact they buy a larger quantity.
Good Luck

Where can I find the cheapest promotional products on the internet? I am looking for pads, pens, rulers, etc.?
Feb 11, 2007 by outsidethebox108 | Posted in Other - Advertising & Marketing
Promotional products are one of the best advertising mediums available.
Did you know that the average pen has 8 different owners? Now that's exposure!
You may not always want to go with "cheap" - what kind of image do you want to portray to your customers?

Question about starting a promotional products company?
Oct 29, 2006 by Florida w/ Questions | Posted in Other - US Local Businesses
I am researching starting a company that sells promotional products to local businesses - imprinted tee shirts, calendars, pens, etc. Just began my research.
Does anyone know where I can BUY the products? I assume it must be overseas places only but am not sure about that. And if so, where, exactly? Anyone know of any places? URLs? Names and cities (I will find their contact info). Thank you SO much for your help!
I agree the market is saturated. I worked for one of these companies for a while - the customers are extremely rude, orders don't arrive on time and the quality can vary from vendor to vendor.
If you really want to do it good luck, but I think you could find a much better business to get into. Some companies where you can buy stuff include logomark, giftcor, numo, tranter, american accents, lioncircle, and american zebra. Please keep in mind they only sell to asi members.
If it is your dream best of luck to you - I am sure you can do extremely well.
